How long does it take to transport my automobile?
The amount of time it will take for your car to be picked up and delivered will be based off of distance, road conditions, traffic, USDOT regulations. Certain times of the year commercial truck drivers will try to avoid transporting vehicles and freight because of road traffic. Holidays like Christmas, New Years Eve, July 4th, Memorial Weekend are just a few of the major holidays that commercial truck drivers try to avoid. Traffic and road conditions during these busy times tends increase past normal peak rush hour levels causing major backups. For a commercial truck driver travel during these times increases fuel cost, risk of accidents, and traffic delays. Nobody likes stop and go traffic and that especially goes for a commercial truck driver as that means more driver fatigue and fuel consumption. The laws of physics will work against a truck as it requires more fuel/energy to move and vehicle/object from a stop up to the speed limit. For commercial vehicles keeping a steady pace is ideal as it eliminates added wear and tear on the mechanical components of the truck. It is best to avoid transporting your vehicle around these times to avoid delays or extra cost.
To avoid being consumed with anticipation when the car carrier will arrive try to leave your vehicle with a third party or somewhere it can be picked or dropped off at anytime. An example of this would be leaving the vehicle at the security gate of apartment complex, front desk of a hotel, at business place, or at a friends house. Making alternate plans will help everyone avoid delays due to unexpected events or schedule conflicts.
